Vomitastic

I totally chundered in my Mom’s car last night. I’d been feeling queasy all afternoon, went down for a three-hour nap, and I could feel it coming. Nausea. It was getting late and I had to get home, so I grabbed two plastic shopping bags and a bottle of water and we braved the highway. Sure enough, just as we were getting onto the 427, puke-o-rama.

I think this might be my body’s way of protesting it’s cold-turkey cut-off from caffeine and sugar. Movies like ‘Trainspotting’ have taught me that hurling is a totally natural reaction to detox from addictive substances, and if my five-cups-of-tea-with-sugar-and-a-chocolatey-baked-good-item-a-day habit isn’t an addiction, then I don’t know what is.

So far, this South Beach thing isn’t feeling so good, but it seems oddly productive. I feel more energized (when I’m not sleeping or regurgitating partly-digested food), and my profile seems less puffy.

In other news, while garage saling yesterday, Mom and I bought her an abdominal exercise machine for $10, me a really nice blazer for $10, Justin a weed-whacker, a fingerprint kit, and a Transformers desk set for $8, and a hardcover book on the history of the Samurai for JVL’s dad for $2. There were other items: books, candle holders, the usual chatchkas, but nothing I can think of in the grogginess of the morning.

Peace out, enjoy your long weekend, kids.

  1. I quit drinking coffee (and caffeine) on tuesday. I had to break down and have a cup after 48 hrs because the withdrawal headaches were crushing my brain. But now I am free and clear! I will go back again, just trying to keep it on the lowdown. Sorry you chundered, that isnt fun.

  2. I’ve been cut off from caffeine in large amounts, so I don’t have that issue…but when I pretty much stopped drinking fruit juice & put myself on water & green tea a couple years ago – it’s harsh. The one thing I can recommend to you is that you go through at least one liter of water a day, & get yourself a six pack fo the individ. gatorades – the extra sugar in it will help stave off the caffeine headaches just like it helps prevent a hangover.

But basically? Water, some gatorade, & green tea are your friends right now, m’dear.

  3. Glad to hear you are feeling better – but my poor car smells like puke! Ah, well, I guess a dollar store deodorizer will have to do until she goes in for her annual spring cleaning. The “Torso Track” is doing horrible things to my tummy “muscles”, but I will persevere and have a lovely svelte silhouette [however, my knees will be totally shot and I’ll probably be in a wheelchair so no-one will be able to appreciate all my hard work].
