I have been off the LJ all week, and I can’t really say why. I should have come on yesterday, if only to wish a very happy birthday to my lovely cousin,
In other news, it’s the lovely
Wednesday, I was a total disaster zone. Here’s a sample of my non-awesomeness:
– wake up late, no shower, dress in jeans, run to bus stop, no tokens/tickets, it’s 8am
– call Justin, have him meet me with bus tickets at end of driveway
– have run out of time to catch bus, take 8:20am train
– watch through window as we pull away, see Justin’s Starbucks travel mug on top of ticket punch machine
– call Justin AGAIN to ask him to come to train station and retrieve the mug I left there
– get to work, oh my God it’s the Veterans’ Memorial ground breaking ceremony today and I’m supposed to photograph the dignitaries and the Premier and I’M IN MY JEANS!!!
– try to shop at lunch, no luck, nearly miss commencement of ceremony
– day continues with self-inflicted bloopers in this vein
– I accomplish NOTHING except for trip to realtor’s to pick up rent cheques
Thursday was far, far better.
– remembered to go to TD, deposit rent cheques, transfer funds owing to JVL
– emailed and call Mom, resolve some financial business, have nice chat
– remembered to call cousin, send her birthday card
– looked into San Diego hotel fiasco and E-bay no payment fiasco (neither resolved, alas)
– did my job AND the jobs of three other sick/vacationing coworkers
– wrote and submitted new article for newspaper
– worked on TMB.net articles
– worked on my submission for Ugliest Quilt in Universe, based loosely on I Ching pattern (photos forthcoming – it’s really stunning; a total visual assault)
– watched half of ‘Excalibur’ with Justin and realized that it has not only Patrick Stewart (love), but also Helen Mirren (love) and Ciaran Hinds (love)
Today, absolutely everyone at work is either sick or on holiday except for myself, the Director, his admin assistant and the webmaster. It’s like a cemetery in here. I guess the rain proved too challenging for some people – it certainly was for me, since my pants, shoes and socks are still very wet and I’ve been indoors for over seven hours now. It was damn watery out this morning. I love waking up to the sound of rain and thunder, and we had the windows open so there was that cool, fresh breeze coming in the bedroom… yummy. But then I had to go to work. Ick. I am protesting the fact that everyone except had the foresight to stay at home, by making icons. Here are two from my list of many: one as a reminder to write my TMB article, and one for my Dune fetish.
I LOVE Excalibur, but I’m a tad bizarre.
“We’ll be celebrating with dinner on Saturday night, which I’m really looking forward to.”
Ahem.
“…forward to which I’m really looking.”
By the way, I have 2 packages for you. Let me know how many you sent in total, so I know when to go to the Post Office and ship them.
