Just wanted to say thank you to all the lovely people who gave me shout-outs on LiveJournal yesterday for my birthday (as well as folks who called or dropped by the house with cake!) Sorry I didn’t respond directly, but I was offline and at home all day.

I had a very relaxing transition from twenty-seven to twenty-eight. Listened to CBC radio 2 play a whole lot of Mozart. Sewed. Read some Melville. Drank a vat of iced tea. Ate about 33 cookies. Annoyed the dog by petting her ears. De-fragged my computer and deleted some old e-mails. Yep. A laid-back kind of birthday.

I got calls from many thoughtful folks, including my lovely cousins in the Bahamas, my friend John M., and and a nice visit from Uli & Paul that involved carrot cake, gift wrap and domain name acquisition. I made ginger chicken and rice for dinner, and watched “Elf” for the first time, after owning the DVD for nearly a year. All in all, a fine birthday. My only regret is the lack of a pinata. Maybe next year?
