It’s that time again. Geek out time.
Tonight I begin my weekend of comic debauchery, as the Toronto Comicon opens its doors at the Queen Elizabeth Building in Exhibition Place. I’m volunteering, so I’ll be bustling about in my little red Volunteer shirt, staffing the entrance, helping with the media orientation, making sure the vendors don’t start creeping their booths foreward into the aisle space, and generally being a big nerd. I’m quite excited. If only it weren’t for this nagging exhaustion and guilt that’s been plaguing me.
Last night I walked Alastair’s yellow lab puppy, Sirus, and he is the cutest thing ever. Stubborn as hell, with a real penchant for eating trash, but good company on a crisp November evening. We had a nice hour-long gambol through the Annex, and I took him to visit Chip, who is undergoing some work-related stress at the studio. I got to see his work on Prison Funnies #2, and although the content is perhaps a little over the top (read: violent and sexualized beyond all reason), the art is beautiful. He’s really settling into his own style and his lines are getting bolder and more dynamic – lots of action and movement. Doesn’t hurt any that he drew this week’s Eye Magazine cover revealing Miller as their candidate for the mayoral race, either.
