Staff meeting after work tonight. Then came home and read ‘Wonder Woman: Amazonia’, which I bought purely on the basis of the pretty, Victorian-rendered woodcut-style illustrations. Made dinner. Batted around ideas for upcoming birthday party with roommates. Think I’ve decided on the Bishop. Watched ‘Dead Man’ by Jim Jarmusch. Ready now for dreams of ‘Return of the King’ tomorrow. Promise I will not gush about it afterwords. Don’t want the blog version of being pelted with rotten tomatoes.
Hey, it’s after midnight! Aren’t I supposed to be up for work in 6 hours?
Not the most becoming picture, my darling….
But on an exciting note: I just saw Shania! *SO* good! Yay!
a couple things:
1) i’ll be there for your birthday…can i come play too?
2) wha? return of the king? how? why? and why can’t i be watching return of the king instead of working on my dissertation research/outline, which i *really* don’t want to do? though i suppose it is a fair trade-off for working two jobs. hm.
hugs
Glad to hear you had a fantastic concert experience (at least I assume it was a concert — you didn’t just pass her on the street or something, did you?). I wouldn’t mind seeing Ms. Twain live and in person, but if you went with Jason, the excitement from him alone would be enough to put you over the top. Enthusiasm is catchy. 🙂
**Note: I deleted the picture you didn’t like, and replaced it with my “cowgirl”, which I thought was more appropriate to your new country response – but YOU need to get your own icon photo, missy! Did you see the two I made for you in my earlier post?**
Yes, yes, DO come out and play for my birthday!
It’ll probably be low-key, just hanging out in a snug pub somewhere we can get decent fried foods and pints of cider. I’m still torn between the Bishop and Belcher on Queen, since it is so close to work, and the Foxes Den on Bay, since it’s my current fave, less crowded, there’s a pool table, etc. Thoughts? Opinions? Other ideas?
Re: my early viewing of LOTR3… all Snail staff get to see it in advance. This may seem unfair, but it is a serious occupational hazard that if you don’t watch comic-related movies before the unwashed masses do, you will hear about 3 million reviews of it spoken in the store on opening day, which will then utterly ruin the movie for you later on. Also? It’s a thank you for putting up with the utter insanity that is working retail at Christmas.
Sorry about your dissertation outline – academic work at Xmas is poopy. All you really want to do is be festive and drink hot mulled beverages and go shopping, and in theory you have all the free time in the world, but really the deafening call of the library drowns out the carolling and you are drawn to the books. I remember. 🙁
Ooooh… birthday! When will the partay be?
Um. Assuming I’m invited 😉
