Huzzah! I found the rent cheques! I have decided to resolve my continuing issues with tenant deposits and bouncing cheques by doing the right thing and opening up a CIBC account, so that hopefully they can just arrange monthly transfers direct into my account (since they bank at CIBC also, the money transfer is immediate and I don’t have to wait and see if the cheque clears). I will do that on my lunchhour, at the CIBC branch just up the street, and I think it will take a load off my mind in terms of how my finances run.
JVL was too sick to go into work today. He’s pretty pooped from lack of sleep and worries about work and such, and I wish there was more I could do for him, but at this point I think the best thing he can do is exactly this – take time for himself, and take care of himself. I hope he’s having a restful day at home.
Tonight I’m supposed to go next door to the police station on Dundas and give my video testimony of an unfortunate incident that happened to me almost a month ago involving some scary guys hoping to get me in a van with them. I don’t want to discuss it, but I will be damn glad when all this fuss is over. I’m a huge proponent of the “say no, then go, then tell someone you trust” method of dealing with incidents of victimization, but at the same time it is a hell of a lot of work. This will be the fourth time I’ve had to deliver my statement to the police, including the initial phonecall, the visit from two uniformed officers a few days later, and the really weird drive into work from an officer driving an unmarked car, and frankly I’m sick of retelling my unpleasant tale. I want to not have to think of it again.
Negotiations continue with the condo deal.
The really good thing about all this nonsense is that I know for certain that most of my craziness will be resolved by the end of February, for better or for worse.
