Wow. They cranked the heat up in my office today, and here I am with the sunlight streaming through the window, wearing a polar fleece hoodie with an inappropriate string tank top underneath, so I can’t take it off and I am GETTING SLEEEEPY.
So, I must LJ to remain awake. My continuing quest to find a reasonably-priced used copy of ‘Grosse Point Blank’ failed today at lunch, when CD Exchange north of Queen had about 9 million copies of ‘The Rundown’ and a shocking number of cheap, used copies of ‘Dune’, ‘Weird Science’ and ‘Shrek2’ (to my chagrin – I paid big money to get that for Mum before Christmas, dammit) but NO Cusack. Sigh. Next stops: CD Cat on Yonge, then Second Spin on Bloor, then the store that used to be called Neurotica but keeps changing it’s name every 8 seconds, then if all else fails, CD Replay on Bloor. I really like shopping for second-hand discs and stuff, it’s just that the weather has been so abysmally bad for the last couple of weeks that I’ve been sprinting for the train home or TTCing it to class instead of meandering around the Annex.
Last night Justin and I had a nice veg-out in front of the TV once I got home from my night out at the pub with Chrissy, Melly and Petar (which was fun, despite the painful, painful lactose reaction to my poutine – ouch). JVL has been experimenting with different pay-cable stations and as a gift to me he got the “LoneStar” all-Westerns all-the-time channel, and for himself, the Discovery channel. After watching some of the sample channels we got as a “gift” from Rogers for the month of January, I think we’ve decided it’s time to make a change to ‘Tech TV’ and ‘BBC Canada’. Because they CAPTIVATE us. We watched a whole show on new gadgets, followed by a show on video game reviews and designed, and a show on the history of Apple computers, and we COULD NOT LOOK AWAY. We’re also looking forward to a titillating show they advertised called “Players”, which features interviews with stars (Snoop Dogg, Owen Wilson, Lindsay Lohan) discussing which video systems they own, what they like to play, when they got their first gaming platform, etc. Geek love, man.
Um, lessee, in other news I got tasty ‘JS Bonbons’ chocolates from my secret santa at the Snail which I’ve been daydreaming about all morning. They’re from this lady chocolatier on Dupont Street, Jenn Stone, who handmakes everything and teaches classes. After receiving
Tonight: sand and paint stairwell to prove JVL wrong that I “never finish anything”, read AT LEAST 40 pages of ‘Brideshead Revisited’, get to bed by 10:45pm so that when Mum shows up all perky and British and bright tomorrow morning at 8am to drive Justin in to work downtown, I can answer the door in my clothes with a pot of tea already brewing rather than in my green bathrobe with my hair all messy and bedraggled and my teeth not brushed (eww).
Ooh, The Rundown! That movie was hilarious! (I can’t believe I’m saying that in public!)
I’ll have to hit CD Exchange, and soon! Also, I should head to the Snail to get more LotR action figures!
I think the nice sunshine has put me in a spending mood today. And yesterday, apparently, since I bought Justin a “special edition” 3-pack of music videos directed by Chris Cunningham, Michael Gondar(sp?) and Spike Jonze. With a bonus disc! Woot!
Did I mention he got me the two “extras” from the Buffy PALz that I was raving about a while back? Oh yes, I now have an “Angel” and a “Buffy as vampire” set. Lurvely.
LOTR figures rock. Especially the chicks. Do you have Eowyn? And Galadriel?
I have Warrior!Eowyn, and Aragorn with sword-slashing action. I am planning to acquire the whole Fellowship, plus Eomer, Theoden, and Galadrial. At least.
