Beavers Cleaned Our Park!

Justin came home from work a few hours ago, and while he was getting changed out of his suit that he’d worn for this morning’s funeral, he glanced out the bedroom window and called me over to come look.

There were adorable little Boy Scouts – Beavers, actually, they’re the youngest ones – cleaning up our park! We’d both been talking about how dirty the park is and how it’s not nice for kids because of all the junk and broken glass that the nasty teens leave there, and we were going to go do a clean-up together on April 22nd, the designated “clean up Toronto” day. But there were little kids doing their own cleaning up! And they were having so much fun, all giggling and running around all nimbly-bimbly, leaping from tree to tree.

They were wearing their little brown vests and little blue hats and red and white neckerchiefs, and they had garbage bags and their Scout leaders had push brooms and they cleaned the whole thing! Justin was so excited he ran outside to say thank you to their Chief Dude, and to offer water or apples or pop or whatever they might want, but they said no thank you they’d brought their own snacks.

Then Justin came upstairs again because I was still looking out the window and we decided to lie down and have a little nap. And now I’m writing my paper again and he’s still sleeping. Soooo cute!
