1. Legal Aid – called this morning to inform me that they aren’t hiring ANYONE for the job, since they have insufficient work to justify a new communications staffer (then why did you advertise it in the first place, I ask?) and even less funds to pay a new communications staffer (again, why put everyone through the fuss?). I was half-thinking that maybe it was just a really nice letdown, but they actually called two other people in my ministry who had interviewed for the position and said the same thing, so I guess they were for serious.
Who bothers to set up and perform *multiple* interviews when they’re not even sure there’s a job to be had, or money to have said job with?? Baffling.
2. MBS – New job prospect at Management Board Secretariat (what do they do, you ask? I have No. Idea.), a writing/editing job (permanent!) that I apparently put in my resume for several weeks ago (long enough to forget completely what the heck the job is all about) and just got a call for yesterday. So now I have a new interview, next Wednesday at 1pm. There is a formal interview, and then a writing assignment afterwards, so I’m a little nervous about this one. Also nervous because I seem to have pakced on a few pounds for no readily discernable reason and as such none of my pretty interview suits FIT MY FAT ASS at the moment. Alack!
… the FIVE BAGS of groceries you shared in the devouring of, hier soir?
😉
Bonne chance!
MBS (Management Board Secretariat) are basically the administrative bureaucracy for all the other Ministries. So they are like a super-concentrate of bureaucracy!
I know some people who work there. They all seem pretty well-adjusted, considering.
My God, will I transform into a Vogon if I work there?
*fear*
when I first got to LA & was temping, I showed up for a job that I’d actually rushed to do a drug test for at Raytheon, only to find out that they had called the temp agency, arranged for me to get there, but never files a requisition for the position, so I actually…didn’t have a job.
Smooooooth….
